elio
a boutique in the center of Bissau
Bissau center. Very close to ministries, public offices and international organizations, a few meters from meteorological agency under renovation. A turn, and the unpaved and bumpy side streets, opening onto a brighter life. It's in one of those streets that Elio founded its place. That where to grow his business. A small contendor, tiny store of basic necessities obtained in the middle of a container arrived at the port of Bissau from who knows where. Condensed milk “Dido”, tomatoes 100% Natural “Jocker”: here everything is concentrated. Everything is sipped and measured. Here cigarettes are bought not packages but loose. One by one.
Elio, 31 years old, was able to start its start-up thanks to “Djubi Lundiu”, the first edition of incubator “Bo fia bo pudi” of Engim Piemonte. From the ideation of project to the selection phase, from the proven happiness when he learned that his business had proved successful until the moment of formation at the Cifap of Bissau: “The most important thing to start a small business is to believe till the end of time and never stop the training. Education is the only way to resist and save themselves in difficult situations”.
Elio, like so many young Africans, for a time, fed the dream of Europe. Spain, in particular, where his father lives. Now his business starts giving some profit and he realized that his future is in Guinea Bissau. His challenge today is to improve and increase further its activity, making it economically viable and sustainable. “Thanks to contendor I'm building my tomorrow, I feel solid under my feet and that makes me happy”.
